Your CV is your marketing document. In Pakistan's competitive job market, recruiters spend an average of 7 seconds on first review. This guide gives you every tool to make those 7 seconds count.
Pakistani CV Format — What Works in 2026
Length: Maximum 2 pages for under 5 years experience. 3 pages acceptable for 10+ year veterans.
Font: Calibri 11pt or Arial 11pt. Avoid decorative fonts.
Format: Clean, minimal design. No heavy colors or graphics unless you are a designer.
File: PDF always. Name it 'YourName_CV_2026.pdf'.
Sections to Include (in order)
1. Name and Contact Info — phone, email, LinkedIn, city (no full address needed)
2. Professional Summary — 3-4 lines. Your elevator pitch.
3. Work Experience — most recent first. Bullet points with achievements not duties.
4. Education — Degree, Institution, Year, CGPA (if above 3.0)
5. Skills — Technical skills first, then soft skills
6. Certifications — AWS, ACCA, Google, Coursera etc.
7. Projects (for IT roles) — with tech stack and your contribution
8. Languages — Urdu, English, others
The Professional Summary Pakistanis Get Wrong
Wrong: 'Hard working individual looking for a challenging opportunity to utilize my skills.'
Right: '4-year Flutter developer with 6 published apps serving 100,000+ users. Expert in BLoC, Firebase and REST API integration. Seeking senior mobile role at a product-first company.'
The right version states experience, proof and what you want. Never write 'hard working' — everyone claims it.
Achievement vs Duty Writing
Duty (bad): 'Responsible for managing social media accounts'
Achievement (good): 'Grew Instagram from 5,000 to 45,000 followers in 8 months, increasing brand traffic by 180%'
Quantify everything. Use numbers, percentages and timeframes.
ATS Optimization for Pakistani Job Platforms
Roziwala, LinkedIn and most corporate applicant tracking systems scan CVs for keywords. Mirror the exact language from the job description. If the job says 'Spring Boot developer' — use 'Spring Boot' not 'Java backend developer'.
Most Common Pakistani CV Mistakes
1. Objective statement instead of professional summary
2. Photo optional — don't make it mandatory
3. References available upon request — waste of space
4. Listing every Microsoft Office application as a skill
5. GPA below 3.0 — omit it entirely
6. WhatsApp number without country code
7. Unprofessional email (cool.guy99@gmail.com)
